Culture

01

Culture can be either a noun or a verb.

As a relative newcomer to Ogilvy Durham, I have had the opportunity to experience both forms of culture here: the tending of Petri dishes, as well as observing the support of a pattern of values and beliefs shared by a community.

The growth of microorganisms, of course, takes place in my coffee cup every night.

The support of values and beliefs has been made evident to me through various activities taking place on a regular basis around the agency. I was thoroughly impressed with the way the Ogilvy community recently supported the annual Durham Art Walk by not only providing our office spaces as an open gallery for presenting paintings, drawings and other works of art from the local community, but by the enthusiastic participation of several Ogilvy employees who contributed their own beautiful and inspiring creations. Nearly as inspiring as the bagels and cream cheese provided every Friday morning by the agency to its employees. Now that’s kulcha!

Finding myself surrounded by genuinely talented and creative people makes enjoyable a seemingly endless series of tasks that under other circumstances could edge toward tedium or banality. That alone is a gift of unmeasurable value. Right up there with birthday cake and clean coffee cups.
